a 2-day workshop bootcamp with Chris Suharlim

Summary: Two sessions of ‘express-create-teach’ bootcamp workshop will be held on March 10th and 24th, from 1-5pm at the Dance Complex. Participants will learn performance techniques to improve their ability to communicate with dance audience (and camera), learn the concept of choreography and flow to perform choreographies or create their own dance work, and discuss communication techniques to to create a welcoming and rewarding experience in their peer-teaching or classes. Tuition of $100/person includes 6 hours of instructional time, 2 hours of peer review, and in-person feedback session. Partial financial support available for students with disadvantaged background (email for more info). Select participants will have the opportunity to teach a class in July of 2019. Target audience: Dancers (casual and professional) seeking to improve their dance delivery, develop their choreography skills, and communicate and instruct dance to their peers or students.

About the instructor: Chris Suharlim is a teaching artist at the Dance Complex since 2014, teaching Sassy Hiphop and K-pop Sass open classes. In 2017, He was awarded Boston’s Best by the Improper Bostonian Magazine. He has performed, choreographed, taught dance for open classes, large flashmobs, and performance concerts for over 10 years, in addition to his extensive teaching experience in academia.
